  • Individuals and families in Core Housing Need live in unsuitable, inadequate, or unaffordable housing and are unable to afford alternate housing in their community.

  • Across Canada, in 2021, 1 in 10 households was in Core Housing Need. In Ontario 12.1% of households were in Core Housing Need.

  • Core Housing Need amongst renter households (20.0%) is significantly higher than owner households (5.3%).
